The Avon Tennis County Championships took place this summer. This is a Grade 3 tournament which is open to any tennis player who can confidently play a match in his/her relevant age group. It is called a Grade 3 tournament as the level can be high, but ALL are welcome to play, if they are from the county of Avon.
There is a tournament for each age category, as well as doubles! Some age groups are played in a box format (generally the younger age groups) and others in compass draw or double elimination format. Ultimately in each age group a county champ is crowned! The atmosphere is fun, friends are made across age groups and it is a showcase of all the players in Avon!
We are incredibly proud of every one of the children from Kings who took part! For some, it’s one of their first few tournaments, and for others we have seen huge success!!!
Below are a number of success stories
- U8/U9 Boys – Frederick, Isaac, Max all played in the U8 & U9’s experiencing their first Grade 3 Tournament
- U9 Girls – Marli won 3 out of 5 matches, winning her box and coming 7th overall (playing an age group up)
- U10 Doubles; Winners Max & his partner Lena

A huge well done to all the children from our program competing at the County Closed whether they were winning or losing, as they are all realising you can learn and develop more from the losses, whilst winning always feels good!
